Mitch Mortensen manages the St. George office of Heaton Financial. Mitch graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 2000. Prior to becoming a licensed investment advisor, Mitch enjoyed a successful career as a civil and structural engineer, owning his own consulting firm that focused on providing specialized engineering solutions to fit client’s specific needs. Mitch has been responsible for managing the day to day business operations, employees, marketing and finances. For almost 2 decades Mitch has worked in various industries including commercial, industrial, oil and gas, mining, railroad, transit, government, department of defense, and residential. Exposure to these industries has helped broaden his investment knowledge and understanding of the economics of various fields.
Mitch has a strong business and entrepreneurial background and has been an owner in various businesses including engineering, retail, online, and real estate. His focus is in risk management, investment management, portfolio allocation strategies, and business financial analysis. He has knowledge of mutual funds, ETFs, stocks, fixed income, options, real estate and alternative investments. Mitch's love for investments started in 2001 when he purchased his first stock. Since then, he has been actively involved in managing his own portfolio and has developed a deep interest in digging into all types of investments to understand what makes them “tick”. His strong analytical background and love of mathematics and statistics has fueled his passion for portfolio analysis, modeling and optimization for his clients.
When Mitch is not working, he's enjoying the outdoors with his wife and kids, playing pickleball, golf, running, skiing or mountain biking around Saint George.
